10th – California State Route 1

This is the most famous and beautiful road in the world! California State Route 1 spans 656 miles along the coast, from Orange County, south of Los Angeles, to Mendocino County, north of San Francisco. The scenery along this route is breathtaking.

9th – Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road is situated to the west of Melbourne. It offers tranquil bays, surfing beaches, tropical rainforests, caves, and cliff formations. One of its most renowned attractions is the distinctive natural stone formation known as the “Twelve Apostles” (although one has collapsed), standing in the ocean. The road spans a total length of 250 kilometers and provides opportunities to observe historic shipwrecks and a diverse range of wildlife.

8th – Amalfi Coast Road

The Amalfi Coast is renowned for its stunning scenery, with UNESCO describing it as “beautiful and typical Mediterranean scenery”. One of the most iconic drives in the world is the Amalfi Coast Drive, which spans 25 miles along the coast.

7th – Seward highway

Located in Alaska, this place offers breathtaking scenery with fantastic waterfalls, lush greenery, diverse fauna, and vibrant vegetation. The beauty of the landscape is enhanced by the presence of freely roaming cattle and sheep in the green fields. Driving along this road provides a unique and enjoyable self-driving experience that sets it apart from other roads in the United States. The entire journey typically takes approximately 2.5 hours.

6th – Alpine Road 

The French Alps Route is a narrow road that crosses the Alps, spanning a total length of 425 miles. It begins in Baines-sur-Lerman and extends all the way to the small town of Menton on the Mediterranean coast. The journey presents breathtaking scenery, with snow-capped peaks, verdant valleys, and glistening lakes as you drive southward.

5th – Highway 12 Scenic Byway

The highway stretches 122 miles from the Colorado Plateau in the south to geological formations that were formed hundreds of millions of years ago. It starts from Pan Guiqi and intersects with Highway 89.

4th – New Zealand National Highway 43

It’s difficult to determine why New Zealand’s National Highway 43 is referred to as the Forgotten Road of the World. This road, located in the North Island, is remote and has a relatively short history. However, it is characterized by untouched green vegetation.

3th – Hana Road

The Hana Highway stretches along Maui’s northern coastline for 52 miles. Start from Kahului and head east, navigating through approximately 600 twists and turns, until you reach Hana.

2nd – Atlantic Road

The Western Highway, also known as Norway’s County Road 64, spans a total length of 5 miles and showcases the captivating beauty of the western bay. This highway was inaugurated in 1989. Beginning 2 miles west of Vevang, it features seven bridges that stretch in a zigzag pattern, linking small islands scattered in the Norwegian Sea until reaching Vevang. One of these bridges, the Sky Bridge, holds the distinction of being the most renowned.

When it comes to self-driving roads in the United States, one of the most well-known ones in recent years is Route 66. Spanning a total length of 2,448 miles (approximately 3,939 kilometers), it stretches from Chicago, Illinois in the east to Santa Monica, California in the west, passing through the states of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
